Nike Women's Half Marathon Recap & What's Next

I did it!  I was really worried about finishing this race and what injuries I may have, but aside from that evil hill at the ten mile mark, I did really well!  I have been insanely busy with work and because of that I didn’t get as much running in as I would have liked, and the running I did was usually on a treadmill instead of being outside with real hills.  I didn’t break any personal records, but I finished with a smile on my face and a pretty necklace- and that is all that really matters!

So what’s next?  If you asked me on Sunday I would have said no running for awhile, but now that my muscles (including that brain muscle) are back to normal, I am starting training today for the Glass Slipper Challenge that will happen in February.  This one is a 10k on Saturday and Half Marathon on Sunday in Disneyland- fun times my way!  The training plan is doable though with running 3x/week.  Starting next week I will add in yoga and a 4 week plan using the Nike Training App so I’ll have a nice mix of cardio, strength and stretching.  My big goal for this weekend will be to obviously finish both races but to also meet a certain pace goal for the half marathon.  I have 18 weeks to work on that and maybe even surpass my goals!
